![]() Fran escapes into the maze but just before the cut to the maze mini-game we see the guard, head firmly on his shoulders, looking annoyed, having followed her to the maze. I've read the entire thread and not one person has mentioned that as Fran is finally out the door of the hospital, the guard she sedated confronts her and threatens her, before being decapitated by the cloaked goat figure (I guess Mabuka?). Now, the problem with Fran Bow is precisely that not only are we not given an explanation or "aha!" moment, but past events make no sense with any explanation given or not given. It's not ambiguous at all, and all the prior events fit very neatly into the explanations when we see them in retrospect. The stories themselves may SEEM ambiguous, but their endings are not - Shutter Island in particular, as well as Fight Club, have very obvious "aha!" moments (I don't want to spoil but suffise to say we are shown "the truth" very clearly at the end of both - in Fight Club, it is a montage of past scenes as they *actually* happened, and in Shutter Island 'the truth' is spelled out in the last conversation with the doctor figure). The problem with comparing this game to Shutter Island/Fight Club is that those are stories that are in fact neatly wrapped up. The writer can't really side with either main argument (It's all in Fran's head or it was all real) and once people come up with their own theories then they run the risk of demolishing them further down the line when they reveal the truth (Incidentally, that makes me really curious how they are going to do the sequel!). You're most entitled to think that about the ending - I agree it was short and left wide open, but it's also an inevitable problem with a story featuring an unreliable narrator, mental illness and an ambiguous ending. I'm trying to think of other examples but they're not a perfect fit - the likes of movies such as Fight Club or Joker or Shutter Island or even the game Spec Ops: The Line, all of which people have arguments about certain character's mental state and what is portrayed as true. ![]() Absolutely, it's fun to look at it from different perspectives, we just won't ever get the answer as I think the plot was consistently ambiguous to get that response from people and leave it open, as opposed to an "Aha!" moment that explains what was going on. But as unsatisfying as it was, the fact that it didn't reveal anything led to a lot of enjoyment in trying to peace it together. Either way i still stand by my opinion that the game did not have a satisfying ending. ![]() I remember when i first played the game that i hated the ending because it just stopped after a very strange series of events that made absolutely no sense. Its entirely possible that we are looking way to into this, but we enjoy it. Автор сообщения: unknownthat is the anwser we all know to be true, but trying to interpret what is going on is about half of the fun of the game.
